For nearly 15 years, Dream Centers has been serving vulnerable women and children in the Colorado Springs community. Through our experiences with these resilient families, we discovered another critical need: children affected by chronic stress and trauma.
Children who have experienced trauma are at increased risk for physical and emotional health challenges later in life. But research proves there is a critical window between the ages of 0-5 where it’s actually possible to rewire the brain—before negative neuropathways have the chance to take root. We believe every child deserves this chance.
Introducing Big Dream Early Learning.
Children who receive proper early interventions are more likely to form positive attachments, build healthy self-esteem, pursue education, maintain gainful employment and become contributing members of their families and communities. Dream Centers wants to intervene on behalf of Colorado Springs children who have endured stress and trauma–particularly in regards to homelessness. Big Dream Early Learning is a place where children can learn, grow and thrive… regardless of their past challenges.

A one of a kind program
Children challenged by chronic stress and trauma need specialized care. Often, their unique needs and situations prevent them from participating in the traditional classroom setting. In fact, instead of receiving the proper support, these children are often asked to leave the schools they are attending. Many have been enrolled in multiple schools with little success for integration.
Again, these children need and deserve customized care only available in a trauma-informed learning setting.
Big Dream is not babysitting. It’s not daycare. It’s a trauma-informed learning center staffed by trained teachers and mentors skilled in providing the support, education and life skills necessary to help every child thrive. There are less than ten of these revolutionary programs in the country, and none in Colorado. We want our city to be the first.
